1. AUX

Aux, which is short for "Auxiliary". The AUX interface is an additional single-wire design for signal lines, and is the most common audio interface. It is generally divided into two specifications: 2.5mm and 3.5mm. In general audio equipment, apart from the formal output and input terminals, several input and output terminals marked "Aux" are often equipped as a standby connection. You can take advantage of this terminal when you have special applications, such as making additional sound outputs or inputs.

This kind of preparatory terminal or line, regardless of input and output, we collectively call Aux. Through AUX interface, the audio signal of computer and video recorder can be input in.

2. RCA

The RCA connector is often referred to as the lotus head, and the most common audio connection is the transmission of analog signals by RCA cables. The name "RCA" is named after the company that invented the connector, the Radio Corporation of America, which introduced the connector to the market in the 1940s to connect phonographs to speakers.

Since each RCA cable is responsible for transmitting one channel's audio signal, stereo signals require a pair of cables. For multi-channel systems, the same number of cables should be provided according to the actual number of channels. Stereo RCA audio connectors usually mark the right channel with red and the left channel with blue or white. We can often see RCA connector on some dual-channel sound CARDS. The picture above is a sound card product with RCA analog output. Like the 3.5mm connector, such a connector can also transmit digital signals, which I will introduce in the following article.

3. XLR

The XLR connector, also known as cannon plug or cannon connector, was originally made by James h. cannon (founder of cannon Electric, now incorporated into ITT Corporation).

Cannon "X" is the earliest product series, then the product was improved, added a bolt (bolt English: Latch, is actually a lock), the product series changed its name to: "Cannon XL", and then around the joint metal contact, increase the Rubber seal (Rubber compound), and finally put the three people the first letter of certain words together, called "XLR Connector", namely the XLR connectors.

It should be noted here that the XLR connector can be 3-pin, 2-pin, 4-pin, 5-pin, 6-pin. Of course, the most common connector we use, as shown in the figure above, is the three-legged cannon, or XLR3.

The XLR connection is fairly robust due to the locking device. The XLR connector can also be seen on microphones, electric guitars and other devices.

4. Coaxial

Coaxial is jointly developed by SONY and philips. Coaxial is marked on the back panel of audiovisual equipment (as shown in the figure below), which mainly provides the transmission of digital audio signals. Its connectors are divided into RCA and BNC. The coaxial cable has two concentric conductors, which share the same axis with the shielding layer.

Coaxial cable is a copper conductor isolated by insulation material with an impedance of 75 ohms. Outside the inner layer of insulation material is another layer of ring conductor and its insulator. The whole cable is covered by a sheath of PVC or teflon material. Its advantages are constant impedance, wide transmission band, high quality coaxial cable bandwidth up to several hundred megahertz. The standard connector of coaxial digital transmission line adopts BNC head, whose impedance is 75C, which can be matched with coaxial cable of 75C to ensure constant impedance and correct signal transmission.

High transmission bandwidth ensures the quality of audio. Although the standard connector of coaxial digital cable is BNC connector, most coaxial digital wires on the market use RCA connector.

5. Summary

Audio interfaces are input and output. The former USES the built-in speaker of the projector to produce sound, while the latter transmits audio information from the HDMI input to the external speaker. Generally speaking, the audio interface usually adopts lotus interface or 3.5mm interface.

3.5 mm audio interface is now one of the most common specifications, mobile phones, mp3, sound card, and so on basic it is to use the specification, standard RCA cable, yellow is video line, white and red is around a track line RCA (audio) and introduced before RCA (video) line there is generally an organic whole, also is to use the lotus interface, each channel a coaxial cable, audio transmission.

Nowadays, with the rapid development of projector technology, the projector interface is constantly changing, but now the commonly used projector interface is the above five types of interface. All in all, the above interfaces are the interfaces configured by mainstream projectors and can basically meet the needs of users.
