Apple has provided HomePod Beta software for some AppleSeed testers, and today released the second version of HomePod update. ‌HomePod‌ The second Beta update adds an option to select new default services for Twitter, Apple Music, podcasts and audiobooks .

At WWDC, Apple did not publicly announce the new option, which allows other music services to be set as the default option on HomePod, but this feature is briefly mentioned in the slides related to HomeKit.

Currently, only AirPlay and iPhone, iPad, or Mac can be used to stream third-party music services such as Spotify on HomePod. This new feature may set Spotify and other music services as default music services, allowing users to ask Siri to play music directly from Spotify.

Third-party application developers may need to implement HomePod support because Spotify is not currently listed as an option.
