Asia Pacific pay TV industry revenue fell

The Asia Pacific Pay TV Forecast report estimates that pay TV revenue in the region will reach $26 billion by 2028, down $1.6 billion from 2022.

The Asia-Pacific region is one of the major markets for the global pay-TV industry and it is worrying that 10 countries, including Japan and China, will see industry revenues decline from 2022 to 2028, a study by Digital TV Research said.

The Asia Pacific Pay TV Forecast report estimates that pay TV revenue in the region will reach $26 billion by 2028, down $1.6 billion from 2022. In addition, Japan's revenue will fall by $889 million, China's by $309 million and India's by $153 million over the same period.

Looking at the major platforms in the region, Digital TV Research expects IPTV revenue to overtake digital cable in 2023, growing by $481 million to $11.26 billion between 2022 and 2028.

Between 2022 and 2028, the digital cable will lose $1.15 billion and analog cable will lose $382 million. Satellite television will also be cut by $494 million.
