Is the air conditioning dripping normal? Not always!

Among the many problems in the use of air conditioning, water dripping (water leakage) at the air outlet of air conditioning is the most common problem, but many people don't know how to solve it, or even understand the specific reasons. Let's talk about the causes and solutions of water dripping and leakage of air conditioner.

Poor air conditioning quality

When the air conditioner is refrigerated, condensate will be generated on the evaporator (the water vapor in the air will condense when it is cold), but under normal circumstances, the condensate will flow down the evaporator, and then flow to the "water collecting tray" of the internal unit of the air conditioner. There is a small hole on the water collecting tray connected with the condensate pipe, and then the condensate will flow to the outdoor along the condensate pipe under the action of gravity.

Poor quality should be the universal cause of all electrical problems, including air-conditioning water leakage. For example, air-conditioning service life is too long, aging, internal electronic component failure, and water collecting plate damage may cause air-conditioning water leakage. Therefore, in addition to the purchase of large brands, usually pay attention to maintenance, air conditioning service life if more than 8-10 years, it is recommended to replace as soon as possible.

Air conditioning Installation problems

The condensate of air conditioner flows under the action of gravity without any mechanical participation, so if there is a problem during the installation, or if there is a problem with this system, the condensate will not flow smoothly, resulting in water leakage of indoor unit.

causes and solutions of water dripping and leakage of air conditioner

1. Uneven indoor unit

If the installation is unbalanced, one side will be high and the other side will be low, and the water collecting tray will also be high and low. The water will incline to the low side, so it is not surprising that the overflow and water leakage will occur.

2. Insufficient height of indoor unit

Condensate flows down automatically by gravity. If the height of the indoor unit (the height of the water collecting tray) is even lower than the height of the condensate pipe, the water can't be discharged. Otherwise, it violates the physical common sense, and Newton will be unhappy. Generally speaking, the water collecting tray is 10cm away from the bottom of the wall mounted air conditioner and 35cm away from the bottom of the cabinet mounted air conditioner. Therefore, when installing the air conditioner, the height of the wall hole should be reserved reasonably. The height of the hanging air conditioner hole should be 5cm lower than the internal air conditioner and the height of the cabinet air conditioner hole should not be 30cm higher than the ground.

Condenser problems of air conditioning

Since the condensation water flows to the outdoor through the condensation pipe, the problem of the condensation pipe will certainly affect the drainage of the air conditioner. Generally, there are three problems of the condensation pipe:

1. Damage of condenser tube: the quality of the condenser tube is not as good as you think. It's just a thin layer of plastic. After a long time, the condenser water of the air conditioner will leak out from the damaged place.

2. The connection of the condensation pipe is loose: if the connection and extension of the condensation pipe are too long, there may be water leakage at the joint of the pipe.

3. The condenser pipe is blocked: if the air conditioner is not used for a long time, the water will leak as soon as it is used, pay attention to whether the condenser pipe is blocked. Because the condenser pipe is likely to be bent up, or even blocked by dust, insects and other debris. If it is not cleaned, the water will not flow out, and only overflow will cause water leakage of the indoor unit.

If it's the problem of the condenser pipe, it's very simple to solve, just replace it directly.

Evaporator problem of air conditioning

Under the filter screen is the evaporator (heat exchanger) of the air conditioner. Condensate is generated here, but generally flows down the evaporator. If the evaporator has not been cleaned for a long time, the dirt on the surface may block the flow path of the condensate, causing the condensate to flow away from both sides, forming water leakage.

Evaporator cleaning is relatively simple. There are many air conditioner cleaning agents on the market, and the price is not expensive. You can clean the evaporator regularly.

Air conditioning lack of fluorine

causes and solutions of water dripping and leakage of air conditioner

Air conditioning lack of fluorine means that the refrigerant pressure drops, evaporates in advance and frosts on the evaporator. But in fact, if the air conditioner lacks fluorine, it will also cause water leakage, because the evaporator is covered with thick frost. When the frost melts, the water may flow out from both sides, causing water leakage of the indoor unit. In addition, the water during defrosting may also be blown out from the air outlet. When adding fluorine, we must pay special attention to the specification and ask a special air conditioner maintenance technician.

Insulation problems of air conditioning

The internal and external units of the air conditioner are mainly connected by two metal pipes. When the air conditioner is running, the refrigerant is transported from the copper pipe of the air conditioner under the action of the compressor, so as to realize heat transfer. Air conditioning pipes are generally wrapped by thermal insulation materials to prevent the water vapor in the air from meeting the cooler pipes and generating condensate. Therefore, if the thermal insulation materials are too poor, too thin, or not completely wrapped in the air conditioning pipes, the condensate formed on the surface can only drip freely without a special discharge path.

causes and solutions of water dripping and leakage of air conditioner

Under normal circumstances, especially in hot areas, when the air conditioning temperature is low, it is normal that there is condensation water on the air outlet blades of the air conditioning (most common in summer). Because the air-conditioning reduces the temperature of the air outlet blades, the water vapor in the air meets the blades with lower temperature, and condensate will form on the surface. But if this is not the case of water leakage, then the problem is no more than other kinds, and it is not difficult to solve it.
