Actually, laser TV and projector is not the same thing. There are differences between laser TVs and projectors in terms of the light source, installation distance, and light resistance.

The laser TV uses solid-state lasers as the light source, and can project 100-inch images at a distance of half a meter. It has strong anti-light performance and good results during the day and night. Traditional projectors mostly use ultra-high pressure mercury lamps, which can only obtain a 100-inch picture above 3.5 meters. The light resistance is weak, and direct reflection of strong light must be avoided.

Difference 1: light source

Laser TVs use solid-state lasers as the light source, while most traditional projectors use ultra-high pressure mercury lamps. The life of the laser light source can reach more than 20,000 hours, and it can be used for a long time without replacement, but the market price is relatively high. The life of the ultra-high pressure mercury lamp is generally about 5,000 hours, and it needs to be replaced regularly. The laser life is used as a measuring ruler. The maintenance frequency of the traditional ultra-high pressure mercury lamp is about 4-5 times.

Difference 2: Installation distance

The laser TV adopts the reflective short-focus projection principle, which can project 100-inch screens at a distance of half a meter. Traditional projectors have high requirements for space, and a certain projection distance needs to be ensured to project larger images. Generally, a 100-inch image can be obtained from 3.5 meters or more, and a 120-inch image can be obtained from 4.2 meters.

Difference 3: light resistance

The laser TV has a short projection distance, strong anti-light performance, clear imaging, full color, high brightness, and good results during the day and night. The projector needs a long projection distance, and the diffuse reflection principle is often used to avoid direct reflection of strong light, so the light resistance is weak.

Difference 4: The price

An 85-inch 4K TV is worth more than $14,500. In contrast, a non-short throw projector can be purchased for only a few hundred yuan, and high-end models can be purchased for a few thousand yuan. Currently, the price of a 100-inch laser TV on the market is generally around US$8,700. This price also includes curtains and speakers.

In the above comparison, we can see that both laser TV and projector products have their own advantages and disadvantages. The biggest disadvantage of the projector is that the display effect is not ideal, but it is relatively cheap to buy. So it is a good choice for users who like big vision but have a limited economic budgets.

For laser TV, its biggest selling point is that the display effect is better than that on a projector. So it is suitable for those who are looking for a more economical budget for picture quality.
