In the morning news on July 17, the CCTV 315 night show exposed the existence of third-party SDK plug-ins in some mobile phone applications, stealing user information. Among the exposed applications is a Midea air conditioner remote control app. Midea Air Conditioner's official Weibo subsequently issued a statement stating that this is not an official application. At present, an investigation team has been established to track down developers. The claims of Midea will surely pursue its legal responsibility, resolutely support anti-counterfeiting, safeguard consumer rights, and protect consumer privacy.

Midea air conditioner remote control app spying on users?

Last night, CCTV revealed that in November 2019, the Shanghai Consumer Rights Protection Commission commissioned a third-party company to conduct special tests on SDK plug-ins in some mobile apps. It was found that in more than 50 apps, Shanghai Krypton The SDK plug-ins of Information Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Zhaocai Wangwang Information Technology Co., Ltd. will secretly steal user privacy without the user's knowledge.

These apps include Gome Easy Card, remote control, flashlight, all-around remote control, 91 speed purchase, daily recycling, flash to, radish mall, Zijin Pratt & Whitney, second loan wallet, my flash flower, small crab money, Baojin pig , Galaxy Flash Loan, Jieyun Quick Loan, Mo Chouhua, Aoki Easy Loan, Queen Bee Loan, Credit Vault, etc., many of which are related to loans.

They will read the device's IMEI, IMSI, operator, phone number, SMS record, address book, application installation list, sensor data and other information, and then quietly send it to the designated server.

The Beijing Wangcaiwangwang SDK even steals more private information from users in many apps such as recipes, parent help, and live wallpapers, especially if the SMS content is completely transmitted. Once it contains the necessary information for account login, online transactions, etc, the verification code is very likely to cause economic losses.
