Netflix is in talks with Louis Leterrier, The director of Marvel's "The Incredible Hulk," to direct a sequel to "Bright," which will be written by David Ayer, who directed "Suicide Squad" and The first episode, and Evan Spiliotopoulos, who wrote The live-action "Beauty and The Beast." It was rewritten by T.S. Nowlin, creator of the Maze Runner series, and Will Smith and Joel Edgerton, the two main characters from the previous episode, Will return. The sequel will continue to revolve around the partnership between the two main characters, and will be more international than the first episode, the report said, citing sources.

Deadline also reported exclusively last week that Netflix has signed Avengers director and Extraction writer Joe Russo to write the story for the sequel. In an interview, Joe Russo noted that they are still in the early stages of writing the story and have not yet decided whether the film will be a prequel or an offshoot. He also expects first episode director Sam Hargrave to return to direct. At the end of the first movie, a white man watching Ovi (Rudhraksh Jaiswal) in a swimming pool from a distance elicited different interpretations, with some suggesting that Tyler (Chris Hemsworth), the main character, was still alive and would return in the sequel. However, the film's production team said in a recent interview that Tyler and Gaspar (David Harbour) are part of the story, and that the next film could be a prequel.

The first episode of "Bright" hit Netflix on Christmas day 2017, making it Netflix's biggest production at the time. The film takes place in Los Angeles, where inter-species relations are tense, where the human police and the orc team find powerful objects and find themselves caught up in what the prophet predicted would be a turf war. Although the film received mostly negative reviews, it was watched by 11 million people in the United States in its first three days, breaking Netflix's record at the time. That record has since been broken by Sandra Bullock's "Bird Box," Adam Sandler's "Murder Mystery," and Michael Bay's "6 Underground," starring Ryan Reynolds and directed by "Deadpool." The first episode of "Extraction," which hit Netflix last month, is expected to be watched by about 90 million people in its first month, breaking Netflix's record for premieres. The film tells the story of a ruthless mercenary who is sent to Bangladesh to rescue the kidnapped son of a drug Lord. The mission is deadly and dangerous, but it also provides an opportunity for soul-searching.

In addition to "Bright" and "Extraction" sequels, Netflix has a number of big releases in store, including "Guardians of the Galaxy" star Dave Bautista and "Batman V Superman:" Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder's new zombie films "Army of the Dead," "the Rock," starring Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds, "Red Notice." Deadline has also reported exclusively that Netflix recently acquired The rights to two big-budget movies: "Ball and Chain," starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt of "A Quiet Place," and "Here Comes The Flood," A crime drama from "x-men" creator Simon Kinberg. It is believed that in The future Netflix will be able to combine these big productions with films that are expected to compete for The oscars, such as ROMA The year before and The Irishman last year.
