PS5: Sony's new patent providing convenience for PS5 games

Every time a new generation of game consoles, such as PS5 and Xbox Series X is launched, the major manufacturers are trying their best to add new game functions to players. PS5: Sony's new patent providing convenience for PS5 games

In a patent published on a related website recently, Sony registered a patent that was suspected to be related to the PS5 function in December last year. According to the introduction of this patent, the user can display another sub-screen with different content from the main screen during the game (similar to the picture-in-picture function). The two screens display different contents at the same time without interference, and players can also interact with the main screen and the sub-screen.

It is expected that the picture-in-picture function can be used to display game skills or video guides to players, or to interact with other players live. It is unclear whether PS5 will add this feature. Previously, Sony UX designers have confirmed that PS5 will no longer continue the XMB operation interface used by PS4, many new designs will be added, and the feedback speed will be faster.

The new generation of game console PS5 will be available at the end of 2020, divided into two versions with and without optical drive.

this new patent looks a lot like the Snap function of Xbox One. Its essence is to use about one-fifth of the screen to display the content of other applications, such as YouTube/Netflix video or Skype calls.
