The latest report from South Korean broker KB Securities pointed out that after Samsung Electronics launches OLED TVs in the second half of 2022, the market dominance of Chinese LCD panel makers will be shaken, and OLED TVs will become the standard for high-end TVs.

According to a report by BusinessKorea, in stark contrast to the shrinking LCD TV demand, OLED demand is growing rapidly (by the end of 2021 the same increase of 30%), LG Display has benefited most from this trend.

The report believes that if LG Display continues to remain the sole supplier of OLED TV panels, its bargaining power will increase next year, and it will begin to recover the investment in OLED TV panels since 2013.

LG Display’s OLED TV panel division will achieve a profit of 144.9 billion won (OPM 6.8%) in the fourth quarter of 2021, which should be enough to alleviate the shrinking profit caused by the decline in LCD TV panel prices.

At the same time, LG Display is also expected to benefit from the growing meta-universe market. In the second half of 2022, Apple will launch XR or AR+VR devices to enter the meta universe, and the devices may be equipped with two 8K OLED displays.

In addition, companies such as Microsoft, Facebook, Google, and Sony are also expected to launch various XR devices next year, all of which may use OLED displays to generate 3D images.
