Panel Technology

There are two predominant panel technology in the premium television market; the QLED and the OLED. OLED represents Organic Light Emitting Diode and emits light without an external light source shining through it. This gives the ability to regulate the brightness level of each pixel.
OLEDs, originally manufactured by LG display, are known for their vibrant colors and low brightness.

QLED, however, is a proprietary technology developed by Samsung. It uses quantum dots to improve its color and contrast. QLED TVs are significantly brighter than OLEDs, even though this can limit their ability to show both bright and dark images simultaneously.

It is safe to say that LG's OLED is generally more suitable for viewing high-quality videos in dark areas. Samsung’s QLED sets lag on contrast but have a very bright display.
