The tv mini series Self Made is based on a true story. C. J. Walker is an African-American entrepreneur who is listed in the guinness book of world records as the first self-made female millionaire in the United States. Her career blossomed in the early 20th century, typical business women 100 years ago.

It was supposed to be a biopic, but somehow Wwarner cut it into a limited series of four episodes. There is nothing new about the story. The biographies of such business figures are much the same. But with an all-black cast, the film is able to focus on the issues within the racial group, showing the external contradictions of racial discrimination, sexism, sexism, class discrimination and race discrimination within the group. The struggle between "not black enough" and "too black" has been a flashpoint between mixed-race and pro-african americans. The main character is well chosen, the jokes and black culture are good, and overall it's a good movie. In addition, most of the parts of her commercial success were sketched or skipped, and it was unclear whether the editing problem or the script didn't have them in the first place.
