@pserebus, who claimed to be aware of SONY's internal plans, said on Twitter that the design for the next-generation PlayStation 5 game console would be officially announced in early June.

While it's still early days to open reservations, we can at least get more details from the official blog post. But if the covid-19 pandemic is not effectively contained, SONY's PS5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series X could still be delayed until 2021.

Although SONY briefly held the upper hand for a few months, Microsoft is now several steps ahead of SONY in the marketing war for the new device, especially after SONY broadcast a boring keynote on YouTube.

On the bright side, SONY has at least revealed the specs for the PS5, as well as a redesigned DualSense controller (rather than DualShock 5).

PS5

In the latest news, @pserebus has revealed that SONY will unveil the PS5 design in a month. A few months ago, though, the source predicted that the new opportunity would be announced in the first quarter of this year.

Apparently, the novel coronavirus pandemic has caused so much distress to many technology companies, including SONY, that even the early Revelations could not be verified to be accurate.

Over the past few months, the source has taken a different view of other leaks about the PS5. But earlier this month it revealed that the PS5 was expected to be launched via an online blog within a month, because SONY could not risk a viral release offline.

Although many areas will relax restrictions such as social distancing, many experts say it is too early to do so, or the consequences could be even more dire.

PS5

It has also been revealed that SONY will be showing the design for the PlayStation 5 on the cover of the August issue of the official PlayStation UK magazine. A digital version of the magazine is scheduled to go on sale in June and hit store shelves later that month.

PS5

As for the timing of pre-orders, it may have to wait until after SONY has shown the PS5 to the public, which means that the pre-order pages put out by individual retailers were wishful thinking, and SONY may not be able to meet the huge initial demand from consumers.
