In a recent report by OnlyAccounts.io, a UK-based subscription service provider, it is estimated that the global revenue from subscription-based streaming (SVOD) will reach $95.3 billion in 2023, representing an 18% year-on-year growth. Furthermore, the report predicts that by 2027, the revenue will soar to $137 billion, marking a substantial 73% increase.

The report highlights that in 2017, the global number of subscription-based streaming subscribers stood at 610 million, which grew to 1.16 billion in 2022. The forecast suggests that streaming will continue to outperform other segments of the Media and Entertainment (M&E) market.

According to data from Statista Market Insights, global revenue from subscription-based streaming has nearly doubled since 2017 and is projected to surpass $80 billion by 2022.

During this period, physical sales have declined by almost 30%, while the growth rate of digital pay-per-view and paid downloads lags far behind that of streaming.

Statista's research reveals that nearly 65% of the total SVOD revenue comes from just three countries. The United States, being the largest SVOD market globally, is expected to generate $39.2 billion in revenue this year. It is projected to continue growing at a compound annual growth rate of 8.6% between 2023 and 2027, reaching a market size of $54.6 billion.

As the second-largest market globally, China demonstrates an average growth rate of 10.1% during this period. SVOD revenue in China is projected to increase from $19.4 billion to $28.5 billion. Following closely behind is the United Kingdom, with revenue approaching $5.5 billion by 2027 and a four-year compound annual growth rate of 8.9%.

These statistics highlight the significant growth and dominance of subscription-based streaming in the global media landscape. With an increasing number of consumers opting for streaming services over traditional methods, the industry is poised for further expansion. The convenience, flexibility, and wide range of content offerings provided by SVOD platforms have reshaped the way audiences consume their favorite movies, TV shows, and other forms of entertainment.

As the streaming market continues to evolve, it is expected that more players will enter the space, intensifying competition and driving further innovation. The growth of SVOD presents both opportunities and challenges for content creators, distributors, and consumers alike. The ability to adapt to changing consumer preferences, invest in high-quality original content, and provide personalized user experiences will be critical in capturing a significant share of this burgeoning market.

In conclusion, the projections indicate a promising future for subscription-based streaming, with substantial revenue growth expected in the coming years. As technology advances and consumer demand continues to rise, the streaming industry is poised to reshape the way we consume and engage with entertainment content on a global scale.
