Apple announced the launch of tvOS 14, and Apple Arcade multi-user support. In the early hours of June 22rd, Apple redefined HomeKit and released Apple tvOS 14 at the WWDC 2020 conference. Apple and Amazon, Google and other companies formed an alliance, and opened the HomeKit source code, so that more smart devices can better access this alliance. Now that the smart device joins the home, the system will suggest the user to set up an automation scenario to make the use smarter.

Apple adds light adaptation to the light in the home app, which can adjust the color temperature according to the environment and display the appropriate brightness at the right time. The camera is also optimized, and facial recognition is added to the camera. When someone visits, it will be notified through HomePod, and the user can also see the screen on Apple tvOS 14.

Apple previously created Apple TV+, this App has appeared on the screen of 1 billion+. At the meeting, Apple also released a new video "Foundatic", which will be available in 2021.

One of the biggest upgrades coming to tvOS 14 is one that Apple didn’t mention during today’s WWDC presentation:
YouTube content will finally be able to be viewed in 4K starting with tvOS 14.

The Verge has reached out to both YouTube and Apple for more details on what led to this change. The text on Apple’s website does specify that this applies to “the latest YouTube videos,” so it could be a change on YouTube’s side.

In addition, Apple tvOS 14 improved multi-user support and IoT video doorbell function to Apple TV. The new PIP mode can be used with some applications. For example, you can continue to watch TV while using fitness.

Improved multi-user support means you can now switch between users on the Apple TV and pick up where you left off in the game. Switch to another user and you will see their progress. In other words, as long as you are using the correct account, you never have to worry about losing game progress.

Apple TV can also be used in conjunction with HomeKit devices. For smart homes, Apple is committed to making IoT devices work better together. In iOS 14, when an attachment is added, Home will prompt automatic operation.

When someone is at your door, a compatible video doorbell can interrupt the program and immediately show you who is standing outside.

I hate this on my Apple TV as well… Normally, I just switch to my LG YouTube app and get 4K so it never really bothered me too much. ¯\(ツ)/¯

Will be nice not having to switch out when viewing content on the Apple TV now.

Jeez… the things we take for granted
