Xbox Series X does not support Kinect: meet the Alexa and Google Assistant

Microsoft just confirmed that the Xbox One X and Xbox One S all-digital versions will be discontinued, while the Xbox One S will continue to be produced and sold globally. While giving the above news, Microsoft also announced a bad news that Xbox Series X no longer supports Kinect, and this news comes from Phil Spencer, the head of the Xbox department.

Xbox Series X does not support Kinect

According to Phil Spencer, when Xbox Series X is released, they will plan to make all Xbox One games playable without the help of Kinect. And because of the unprecedented powerful features of Xbox Series X, most of your favorite games will load faster on the new console, and the appearance and performance will be many times better.

The announcement of the above news still surprised many players. After all, Xbox Series X uses the same operating system as Xbox One S/Xbox One X game consoles , which still support Kinect through a USB adapter. However, the accessory was discontinued in 2018, and Kinect 2.0 was discontinued a year later.

Microsoft's Kinect technology is still alive in other products, such as Azure Kinect DK camera, developers can use it to build computer vision and speech models. Fans of Kinect can still use the accessory on Xbox One consoles, but Kinect voice commands can now be replaced by Alexa and Google Assistant.
