Notably, certain models feature Samsung's third-generation QD-OLED panels, and the company has provided detailed insights into these advanced displays.
The third-gen QD-OLED panels, designed for both monitors and TVs, boast a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits for TV panels, putting them on par with LG's latest META 2.0 WRGB OLED panels incorporating Micro Lens Array technology. Samsung credits this breakthrough to advanced panel driving technology and AI implementation. Compared to last year's QD-OLED panels, the new panels exhibit a 50% increase in brightness for the red, green, and blue primary colors, promising deeper hues and more impactful HDR effects.
In a strategic move to ensure color accuracy, Samsung collaborated with the renowned color expert company, Pantone. CES 2024 attendees can experience firsthand the color performance of QD-OLED TV panels by comparing them with Pantone color cards.
The new Samsung QD-OLED TVs, available in 55-inch, 75-inch, and 77-inch sizes, incorporate these cutting-edge panels, supporting a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz, HDR10+ Adaptive, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. However, it's worth noting that the officially stated peak brightness for Samsung TVs featuring these panels is around 1800 nits, a 20% improvement from the previous year, not the previously mentioned 3000 nits.
