Unboxing Experience

AKASO Mini Projector:

The AKASO mini projector is impressively compact, roughly the size of an iPhone, making it incredibly portable. Its lightweight design is a significant advantage, especially for someone like me who enjoys moving around different rooms in the house or taking it on trips. The aesthetics are modern and unobtrusive, allowing it to blend into various settings, whether for casual movie nights or more professional uses like projecting images for cookie decorating.

TMY Ultra Mini Projector:

Upon first unboxing the TMY Ultra Mini Projector, I was truly impressed by its sleek and compact design. It fits comfortably in the palm of my hand, which makes it incredibly convenient for travel, whether it's a weekend camping trip or a simple movie night at home. The lightweight nature of the projector adds to its portability, and I appreciate the user-friendly interface that keeps the setup process straightforward and hassle-free.

AKASO WT50 Mini Projector:

The projector boasts a compact design, roughly the size of a Samsung Note but twice as thick, which makes it highly portable and convenient for travel. Its weight provides a sense of sturdiness, and it comes with a standard quarter-inch mounting screw, allowing for easy attachment to any camera tripod. The packaging is impressive, being well thought out and protective, which adds to the overall positive unboxing experience. I appreciate the overall aesthetic and functionality of the projector, making it a great addition to my art supplies.

Viewing Experience

AKASO Mini Projector:

The viewing experience varies greatly depending on lighting conditions. I found projecting onto darker walls worked best in dimmer environments, while lighter walls performed well in moderately lit rooms. The clarity of the image is decent, but small text can sometimes be hard to read, especially in games or detailed images. I appreciated that it could handle larger text well, and for casual movie watching, it provided an enjoyable experience. However, the sound quality left something to be desired, and I often needed to connect an external speaker for better audio.

TMY Ultra Mini Projector:

The viewing experience has been quite enjoyable overall. The picture quality is surprisingly vibrant given its size, supporting up to 1080P resolution. I’ve used it in both daylight and ambient lighting situations, and while it performs best in darker environments, I was still impressed with the clarity and brightness of the image. The projector can create a large display from a short distance, making it perfect for small spaces or intimate gatherings. However, I did notice that I had to adjust the focus periodically as the unit warmed up, which could be a minor inconvenience.

AKASO WT50 Mini Projector:

The image quality is impressive for such a small device, providing bright and crisp images even in dim lighting conditions. I have successfully used it for both small-scale projects like cookie decorating and larger viewing experiences for movies. The clarity of the projection is striking, with minimal distortion when projecting up to a 15-foot diagonal. However, I did notice that the projector's performance is heavily reliant on the environment being adequately dark, which is something to consider when planning to use it outdoors or in bright rooms.

System Experience

AKASO Mini Projector:

Setting up the projector is fairly straightforward, especially with the included HDMI cable. However, I encountered some challenges while trying to connect wirelessly, particularly with my iPhone. The instructions provided were somewhat lacking, leading to confusion during the process. It took additional time and assistance from family to finally establish a proper connection. Once set up, the projector proved to be user-friendly, with a remote that facilitated navigation—though it was occasionally unresponsive.

TMY Ultra Mini Projector:

Setting up the TMY Ultra Mini Projector was a breeze. The intuitive interface meant I could connect it to various devices with ease, whether it be through HDMI, USB, or wirelessly via Bluetooth. I particularly enjoyed the functionality of screen mirroring, which worked seamlessly with my iPhone. However, I did run into some initial frustrations with casting from my phone due to copyright restrictions on popular streaming apps, but once I connected an Apple TV or Fire TV Stick, my viewing options opened up significantly.

AKASO WT50 Mini Projector:

Setting up the projector was a breeze right out of the box. I was able to connect it to my Wi-Fi quickly and easily, and I found the remote control to be functional, albeit a bit slow at times. The fact that it supports HDMI and USB input options enhances its versatility. However, I did encounter some issues with the built-in apps, particularly with Netflix, which often crashes. The Android operating system seems outdated, limiting app support significantly. Still, the ease of connecting to my devices, such as phones and laptops, makes the setup process manageable overall.

Conclusion

AKASO Mini Projector:

Pros:
• Extremely portable and compact design
• Great battery life that lasts hours and recharges quickly
• Wireless connectivity options eliminate the hassle of cords
• User-friendly, with a remote for easy operation
• Ideal for various activities like cookie decorating and casual gaming

Cons:
• Limited image quality with fine details can appear pixelated
• Difficulty with wireless connections and unclear instructions
• Occasional unresponsiveness with the remote control
• Lower sound quality; often requires an external speaker for better audio

Overall Impression:
Overall, my experience with the AKASO mini projector has been positive, especially considering its versatility and portability. While it has its flaws, particularly in image clarity for detailed work and some connectivity issues, it has proven to be a valuable tool for both leisure and creative projects. Given my usage and the convenience it offers for watching movies or assisting in my cookie decorating, I feel that the purchase was worth it. However, potential buyers should weigh their expectations for image quality and setup ease before making a decision.

TMY Ultra Mini Projector:

Pros:
• Compact and portable design
• Excellent picture quality with vibrant colors
• Easy setup and user-friendly interface
• Versatile connectivity options (HDMI, USB, Bluetooth)

Overall Impression:
Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with the TMY Ultra Mini Projector. It’s an excellent choice for anyone seeking a functional, portable projector that doesn’t compromise on quality. While it may not replace a traditional TV for larger gatherings, it excels in smaller, personal settings like family movie nights, camping trips, or even presentations at work. I would highly recommend this projector to anyone looking for an affordable, compact solution for their on-the-go entertainment needs.

AKASO WT50 Mini Projector:

Pros:
• Excellent picture quality with bright and crisp images.
• Highly portable and easy to set up.
• Versatile connectivity options (HDMI and USB).
• Great customer service, responsive and helpful.
• Comes with a mini tripod and has a sturdy build.

Cons:
• Battery life is limited to about an hour, which can be frustrating for lengthy use.
• Remote control has operational delays and is not very responsive.
• Built-in apps, particularly Netflix, may not work effectively.
• Requires dark environments for optimal performance.

Overall Impression:
Overall, I am quite impressed with this projector. It has been a game-changer for my artistic needs, particularly in cookie decorating, and the portability makes it ideal for on-the-go usage. While there are some notable drawbacks, particularly with battery life and app functionality, the quality of the image and the excellent customer service have made it a worthwhile investment. I highly recommend this projector to anyone looking for a compact and effective solution for both professional art projects and casual movie watching.

TMY Ultra Mini Projector looks cool, but I can't get it to work with my iPhone 14. It keeps saying "connected," but the projector just sits there waiting. Super bummed! Gotta return it.

AKASO WT50 Mini Projector Update: The company reached out and sorted things out! I only used it once before it stopped working. The picture it shows when I turn it on looks like the one in my review. The seller wouldn't help me out, even though it had a 2-year warranty.
