Apple's Apple Watch, following Samsung's Galaxy Watch, will now be able to measure electrocardiograms in South Korea.

On Tuesday, According to the Food and Drug Safety Agency (MFDS), Apple received GMP certification for medical device Manufacturing and Quality Management under the Human Phenomena Measurement Device category.

Anthropometric measuring equipment mainly includes stethoscope, temperature measuring instrument and other diversified products. Apple's Apple Watch is also included in this category.

Apple Watch began to support electrocardiograms and GMP certification

South Korean Internet users are saying things like "authenticated" and "finally ready to use", which means many people are looking forward to the feature. However, in order to use the Apple Watch for electrocardiogram measurements, GMP certification and other product licenses are required. However, the food and Drug Administration said that "the relevant content of the enterprise's product license application cannot be disclosed for the time being".

But after Samsung's blood-pressure and electrocardiogram apps were previously licensed, many users expected the Apple Watch to do the same.

Currently, in some countries, Apple Watch can measure the symptoms of atrial fibrillation, and there have been related life-saving cases.

Once the Apple Watch is approved, south Korean users will also be able to make health-related measurements via the Apple Watch. Apple Watch6, due out this year, will add blood sugar measurements.
