Last February, CD Projekt Group, obviously including developer CD Projekt Red, became the second largest video game company in Europe. Today, the company behind the successful video game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or the digital distribution platform GOG decides to smash records again in order to grab the first place on the podium.

Indeed, the CD Projekt group took advantage of the few years rosy Ubisoft to overcome the French giant officially on May 18 and become the first market capitalization in the world of video games in Europe. Today, therefore, the market value of Ubisoft is estimated at 7.82 billion euros, while that of CD Projekt is at 8.01 billion euros. A record which is of course explained by the 38 million euros in net profits generated by the Polish company in 2019 and by the recent explosion in sales of the game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It is therefore recalled, following the adaptation of the witcher saga into a Netflix series, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt had obtained in February last an increase in physical sales of more than 550%.

With the arrival of Cyberpunk 2077 , next September 17, on the side of CD Projekt Red, a title widely awaited by the many fans of the Polish studio, and five big budget productions during the fiscal year 2020/2021 for Ubisoft, including Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin's Creed Valhalla , we can therefore expect a spectacular fight between the two European giants in the coming months. We just have to wait to know who will get first place on the podium of the largest video game companies in Europe at the end of this new fiscal year.

Coming back to CD Projekt Group, the company is also becoming the second largest company in Poland, just behind PKO Bank Polsk which is today struggling to recover from the economic impact caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
