LG UT7570 Review: A Full-Featured 4K TV Perfect for Sports Fans?

First Impressions

The LG UT7570 looks okay overall for a budget TV and is very similar to last years LG UQ7590. It has thin bezels on all three sides and a thicker bottom bezel. Although it doesnt look as good as LGs more costly TVs, its still not bad for the price.
The inputs are housed in a much smaller box than the LG UQ7590, which gives the back of the TV a cleaner look. Since the inputs are located in the middle, they're hard to reach if you have the TV wall-mounted. Unfortunately, there are no clips or anything to help withcable management.
The TV has decent build quality overall. Its mostly made of plastic, so its light and feels a bit cheap, but the two feet hold the TV well enough that there are no major issues with stability. Unfortunately, our unit does have some uneven assembly near the top of the screen, so there's asmall gapbetween the screen and the borders of the TV.

System Experience
The LG UT75 features the 2024 version of LG's webOS, which offers a user-friendly interface with support for individual user profiles, allowing for a personalized experience. However, the overall performance is hindered by slow menu navigation, with delays of up to six seconds when accessing new menus. While the TV provides a robust selection of apps and convenient options for casting content from mobile devices or playing videos from USB sticks, the presence of unavoidable ads within the smart interface detracts from the overall user experience.

Viewing Experience
The LG UT75 presents several notable shortcomings that detract from its overall performance. Its contrast is particularly poor, with blacks appearing gray and lacking the depth expected from a modern television. The absence of a local dimming feature means that there is no enhancement for contrast, leading to a flat viewing experience, especially in dark scenes where highlights cannot be effectively isolated.

Color performance is also lackluster, with an okay color gamut that fails to deliver saturated colors in HDR content. While it shows decent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, overall color accuracy is undermined, particularly at higher stimulus levels. The TV does, however, perform better with a more realistic 50% stimulus, although it still falls short of expectations.

On a positive note, the LG UT75 boasts good gray uniformity and a very good viewing angle, allowing for consistent image quality even when viewed from the sides. Reflection handling is satisfactory under indirect lighting, but direct reflections can be distracting. The RGB sub-pixel layout ensures that text rendering is clear, making it suitable for use as a PC monitor.

In summary, while the LG UT75 has some strengths, particularly in viewing angle and text clarity, its overall performance is hampered by poor contrast, inadequate color accuracy, and the absence of local dimming, making it a less than ideal choice for an immersive viewing experience.

Audio Experience
Overall Impression: The TV offers a generally satisfactory audio experience at moderate volume levels, providing clear dialogue and a well-balanced sound profile. However, its frequency response is lacking, especially in bass, and distortion becomes noticeable as the volume increases. This makes the TV better suited for quiet environments where lower volume listening is preferred.

Motion Smoothing
The LG UT7570 offers decent performance with its low-quality content smoothing, effectively preserving details, though it does exhibit noticeable macro blocking in darker scenes. Its response time is only average, resulting in some blur during fast motion. The TV employs pulse width modulation for backlight dimming, which may lead to flicker issues at a slow 120Hz, potentially causing discomfort for sensitive viewers. While it features motion interpolation to enhance motion clarity, its effectiveness is limited, particularly with fast-moving scenes where distracting artifacts can occur. Overall, the TV has some strengths in detail preservation and low-quality content handling, but its motion performance and flicker issues may detract from the viewing experience for some users.

Overall Impression:

The LG UT7570 TV excels in providing an exceptionally low input lag when set to Game Optimizer, making it an excellent choice for gamers who prioritize a responsive experience. Its Auto Low Latency Mode seamlessly switches to optimize settings for gaming, ensuring minimal delay during gameplay. However, it has limitations, such as supporting only 4K at 60Hz and lacking compatibility for higher refresh rates at lower resolutions. While it offers HDMI 2.0 bandwidth across its ports, it does support eARC for high-quality audio transmission, although it does not accommodate DTS formats. Overall, the LG UT7570 is a solid option for gaming with its strong performance in responsiveness and audio capabilities, but it falls short in versatility with refresh rates and audio format support.
