In the early morning of May 20, build 2020, Microsoft's annual developer conference, opened online in the form of digitalization. At the meeting, Microsoft announced that the hybrid reality (MR) device Hololens 2 will support 5G and will be available in multiple countries and regions.

Hololens 2 hybrid reality device is a product released by Microsoft in February 2019. At the meeting, Greg Sullivan, director of Microsoft's hybrid reality (MR), described some features of this product. Compared with the previous generation, Hololens 2 has a better sense of immersion, holographic image is more dynamic, lifelike, and comfortable to wear. In addition, Microsoft has more than doubled the field of view angle, while maintaining the holographic density of 47 pixels per angle in the industry-leading field of view.

Hololens 2 has a new display system, which enables Hololens 2 to play a strong performance in low power consumption. In order to make users have a better interaction experience, Microsoft has also updated the interaction mode between users and holograms. By using TOF depth sensor, combining AI and semantic understanding, users can directly control holograms through the same gestures used when interacting with real world objects.

It is worth mentioning that Hololens 2 does not support 5G when it was first released. Now Microsoft announced that Hololens 2 will support 5G, and it will get 5G support by inserting cards. However, Hololens 2 is still only for enterprises, not individual users.
