After multiple delays, Samsung has released previously promised firmware updates to enable HDMI eARC on some echo walls in 2019 and beyond.

The firmware update 1010.5 enables HDMI eARC on selected Samsung 2019 echo walls, especially on the hw-q90r, hw-q80r and hw-q70r echo walls with Dolby Atmos.

Samsung has released three new sound bars Q90R, Q80R and Q70R

To take advantage of HDMI eARC's support for lossless audio (unlike the standard ARC), your TV must also support eARC. This feature allows you to connect a blu-ray player with dolby panoramic sound, dolby TrueHD, or other lossless audio formats directly to the TV and then deliver high-quality audio to the echo wall via eARC.

Samsung has promised an update since last year, but it has been delayed several times.

To install the update, you must open the SmartThings mobile app and select the echo wall from it. After the update, the eARC function is enabled.

Samsung has also promised to update the eARC feature on its 2019 Q90R 4K TVS, though the update is still pending, while the eARC feature will come with Samsung's 2020 TVs.
