The Lovebirds describes a couple, Jibran and Leilani (Kumail and Issa Rae), who have been together for years and have lost their passion. One day, a car crashed into a bicycle rider, suddenly a stranger using their car without permisson to kill the bicycle rider, they are afraid of being framed as the murderer, decided to find the truth.
The Lovebirds is similar to the absurd comedy which is a series of absurd events happened on a date night. Although it has suspense and focuses on murder investigation, in fact, the logic of murder case can be forgotten. The Lovebirds focuses on the comedy, especially the performances of the male and female protagonists.
The dialogue between the two of them is mostly silly, but it is one of the sources of comedy. The director comes from a love coma and directs a completely funny movie by designing one funny scene after another, such as being kicked by a horse, entering a college student's bedroom or a secret meeting with eyes wide shut.
