HDR is not only a specification of HDR10, in addition to HDR10, there is a higher specification, which is developed by Dolby Lab, that is Dolby Vision.

Compared to HDR10, Dolby Vision has better specifications, firstly, it can support 4000nits in brightness information, which is four times more than HDR10. In addition, in the "color depth" part of the support 12bit, the color level is tens of times more than 10bit.

HDR10 is a set of "static data" to correspond to the whole film, if there are some sections of the film, the contrast between light and dark is not consistent, there may be a situation where the Warmuna is dark. Dolby Vision is to take "dynamic data", for each picture (frame by frame) to provide the corresponding data, so that the changes in each frame are in line with the director's requirements, the overall performance is better than HDR10.

However, the popularity of Dolby Vision is far less than HDR10, mainly because HDR10 is an open specification, while Dolby Vision is a closed specification, in order to play the Dolby Vision effect, there must be corresponding hardware, theoretically, the player and display equipment must be equipped with a special chip to do, in addition to the need to obtain Dolby's authorization, so that its popularity to step into HDR10.
