Netflix new tv drama Hollywood (2020), close to the idea of "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", is an aerial narrative in the established history of Hollywood. Originally known as Leroy 'Roy' Harold Scherer, he was renamed Rock Hudson after the Rock of Gibraltar and the Hudson River in 1947 after worked with his agent Henry Wilson (played in Hollywood by Jim Parsons).
Although Jake Picking is less than 1/10 of the real Hudson in appearance, but the drama brings us a very lovable and cute character, in the fourth episode, he made mistakes on one line 67 times in "audition", the plot of ironic isn't entirely imaginary, Hudson screen debut is the Fighter Squadron (1948) with only one line, but retaken for 38 times.
Henry Willson (Jim Parsons)
July 31, 1911 - November 2, 1978
Henry was the first person to successfully push the "muscle man" trend in America in the 1950s, and he was also very good at creating a straight man who met social standards for gay actors. But all this comes at a cost, as every aspiring starlet he has set his sights on, gay or straight, has had to endure constant sexual harassment and even sex with him.
Contrary to the show's ending, Wilson ends up penniless and without a decent grave, thanks to excessive spending and drinking.
Ernie West
Although Ernie (played by Dylan McDermott) is not a real historical character, the characters, especially the Golden Tip Gasoline he runs, are almost certainly based on Scott Bowles, the most famous pimp of the Golden Hollywood era. Although the character is purely fictional, the gold point gas station he runs, specializing in pimping, actually existed in the 1940s in the United States, which is closely related to the social survival of homosexuals at that time. As a pimp, Scott has achieved a surprisingly positive reputation, even more popular than Ernie.
