Google will open up assistant features for more TV and TV box developers

As the variety of devices in the Internet of things expands, so does the number of devices supported by Google assistant. According to 9to5google, Google assistant is openly supported by TVs, media remote controls and set-top boxes.

Of course, Google Assistant is not a new addition to the smart TV space. It supports many Android TV devices as well as Google Chromecast. In addition, Google assistant can already connect to devices such as remote systems such as Logitech Harmony, and even to rival smart TV boxes such as Roku.

However, this is about developing Google Assistant controls for these devices using Google's common development tools. On Friday night last week, Google updated their developer documentation to include information about TVs, remote controls and set-top boxes.

As a result, Google Assistant will be almost compatible with TVs, remote controls and set-top boxes, and will offer standard operating options such as volume control, play/pause and skip, as well as the ability to switch between smart TV apps.
