Kanyakumari, India (May 14, 2025): Christie® announces that its RGB laser projection systems dazzled at the Thiruvalluvar Statue light and music show in Tamil Nadu. Celebrating the statue’s 25th anniversary, the project was unveiled by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. It blends cutting-edge projection technology with cultural storytelling to deliver an unforgettable visual experience for visitors.
Christie Griffyn 4K35-RGB Projectors Bring Stunning Visuals to the Thiruvalluvar Statue
The 135-foot-tall statue stands on a small island near the coastal town of Kanyakumari. Six Christie Griffyn 4K35-RGB pure laser projectors cast vibrant, high-definition imagery onto the statue’s façade. An additional Christie M 4K25 RGB pure laser projector enhances the experience for viewers on land.
Produced by Christie partner MSS World, the nighttime laser projection show highlights the teachings of Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar through his literary masterpiece, *Thirukkural*, with narration in both Tamil and English. The project aims to engage audiences and preserve timeless values, elevating the cultural and educational appeal of this Tamil Nadu landmark.
Pratik Wadhwa, CEO of MSS World, said: *“We chose Christie RGB pure laser projectors for their exceptional performance and durability in large-scale outdoor projects. The Griffyn series’ RGB laser technology delivers stunning color brilliance, while its rugged, compact design helped us overcome on-site challenges to achieve flawless visuals and smooth operation.”*
The breathtaking laser light and music show has received widespread acclaim, further boosting Kanyakumari’s appeal as a must-visit destination.
The project faced significant challenges due to the harsh coastal environment. With the projection source located 2,130 feet from the statue, marine-grade cables were used to transmit content across the sea to projectors mounted on nearby reefs. The 1,380-foot throw distance also required custom enclosures for projector protection and precise calibration for optimal image quality. Despite these complexities, MSS World and content creator Knownsense Studios delivered a seamless, visually stunning show.
Known for its wide color gamut and ultra-sharp 4K resolution, the Griffyn 4K35-RGB projectors brought vivid imagery and smooth storytelling to the statue’s intricately textured dark stone surface. The fusion of advanced display technology and cultural narrative earned rave reviews from visitors, who described the experience as *“spectacular”* and *“mesmerizing.”* Even audiences watching via the M 4K25 RGB projector on a large screen were deeply impressed, calling it *“absolutely brilliant.”*
Wadhwa added: *“The Thiruvalluvar Statue show demonstrates how modern projection technology can breathe new life into cultural heritage. This initiative not only enhances the site’s appeal but also highlights technology’s role in making cultural experiences more accessible and engaging.”*
Rishubh Nayar, Sales Director at Christie India, said: *“The Griffyn and M 4K RGB series exemplify experiential installations, and this project showcases their transformative potential. Eight of India’s top ten projection mapping projects use Christie solutions, and we’re proud to redefine immersive shared experiences that are both unforgettable and enduring.”*
