As early as the 1933 Chicago World Expo, the concept of "future home" appeared, and the concept of home automation also appeared for the first time. This concept appears in the form of a robot named "Alpha", which has a round head and can answer voice questions. However, the first true full-coverage smart home concept was created by Emil Mathias, a mechanical genius in Michigan, USA. He has made a major transformation of his residence, and realized many automated home designs through various mechanized tools and buttons, such as automatic curtains, automatic makeup and automatic coffee machines. These seemingly unrealistic design schemes were published in the 1950 "Volkswagen Machinery" magazine.

In recent years, the number of patent applications in the field of smart homes has increased year by year, and the number of applications between 1995 and 2010 is very small, which is the budding period of smart home technology; the number of applications in 2011 began to grow rapidly and peaked in 2018, indicating smart home technology has entered a period of rapid development globally. It can be expected that the smart home is in the fast growth period.

Classification of smart home

According to the technical characteristics, we can roughly divide the smart home into four categories.

Home automation

One of its most obvious forms of presentation is the automatic management of electrical appliances such as home appliances, curtains, and garage doors. For example, the Chinese patent application CN00251314 in 2000 proposed a garage door automatic gate control device. In 2000, the US patent application US20000719763A proposed an electric curtain, and in 2000 the US patent application US20000719763A proposed an electric curtain.

Single product intelligence

Single product intelligence mainly involves smart sockets, smart door locks, smart speakers, and smart TVs. For example, the user can control the refrigerator to open the door, close the door, and set the temperature by simply moving the mouth.

Different products realize linkage

First of all, it shows that the products of different categories have realized the data communication. For example, the human health data collected by thermometers, weight scales, etc. is sent to the smart bracelet via Bluetooth. Although the linkage between different products has made great progress compared to the single-product intelligence, most of the linkage control is mainly achieved by artificially launching commands.

Systematize intelligent

The systematic realization of intelligence is a further result after cross-product data communication and interaction. Not only can data communication be carried out between different products, but it can also be transformed into proactive behavior, which no longer requires human intervention.
