Panasonic Considers Selling or Downsizing TV Business Amid Restructuring

On February 6, Panasonic Holdings President Kusumi Yuki announced that the company is considering selling or scaling back its struggling TV business. This move is part of a broader group restructuring aimed at speeding up decision-making and focusing on growth.

During an online press conference, Kusumi stated, "If necessary, we are prepared to sell it, but we have not yet decided on a plan." This announcement sparked widespread discussion online about Panasonic's potential exit from the TV market. However, the company later clarified that no final decision has been made.

In response to market speculation about Panasonic dissolving and restructuring its TV business, the company told reporters: "Regarding problematic businesses, including the TV division, we are considering all possibilities to achieve a fundamental transformation in our profit structure. However, as of now, no decisions have been made regarding selling or exiting the business."

When asked about Panasonic's business strategy in the Chinese market following the restructuring, the company indicated that, aside from the information shared by CEO Kusumi Yuki, further details will be discussed in the future.
