No permanent enemy, Sharp, is once again supplying Samsung TV panels

Soon after Hon Hai completed its acquisition of Sharp in 2016, it canceled the supply of panels to samsung TVS, and samsung filed a lawsuit against Sharp. Behind the moves is the resentment of hon hai's boss, terry gou, over samsung.

The two had earlier fallen out of love after samsung electronics abruptly turned from a defendant to a tainted witness in a wide-ranging international price-fixing case against hon hai's panel maker, chi mei. So after taking control of Sharp, it cut off panel supplies to samsung TVS in the first place, forcing it to buy panels from LG Display.

No permanent enemy, Sharp, is once again supplying Samsung TV panels

According to Japanese media recently reported that Sharp will once again supply samsung electronics with large-sized LCD panels, which will also be Sharp's fourth supply for samsung. But samsung is expected to get a maximum of 1 million panels, or about 2.3 percent of the 42.7 million LCD TVS it will make in 2019. Sharp, which will supply the panels through its SDP subsidiary, expects to post a profit increase after a loss.

It can be seen from here that after the LCD panel market has been dominated by the Chinese market, samsung chose to withdraw from the LCD panel manufacturing, while Sharp has become increasingly weak in the market competition. In the face of the common demand, the two companies got married again. In the business market, there are only eternal interests and no eternal enemies.
