Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box

The Philips TV brand may be known for its streamer system, which is suitable only for Philips TVs. With the new "Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box," you can imitate the Philips Hue bulb as well as the bulb effect.

The box has four HDMI inputs for connecting game consoles, blu-ray players, set-top boxes and PCS. It then analyzes the color composition of the video stream and adjusts the color and brightness of your Philips Hue lamp in real time. The system supports up to 10 Philips Hue devices. Now the company that owns Philips Hue, yellow, calls it "surrounding lighting."

However, the box has a major limitation that it will not be compatible with any TV that supports HDR because it will not be able to generate any light effect using HDR or Dolby Vision sources. This will affect all source devices, including Apple TV 4K, UHD blu-ray players and game consoles.

It is worth pointing out that Philips Hue is also supported by the recently built in streamer Philips TV, allowing users to extend light shows to Hue devices in the living room.

In addition, there are corresponding smartphone applications that can be used to control the system according to one's own preferences.
