Rocket Arena is a new 3V3 team shooting game released by EA. The game focuses on teamwork and diverse gameplay. Players will not die in the Rocket Arena, if you take too much damage, you will be blown out of the arena. But it is by no means to leave the field and lose. The manipulated character will immediately board the rocket and return to the battle.

Rocket Arena

Rocket Arena is a 3V3 team competitive FPS game. Like other competitive FPS games, it has matching matches, qualifying matches and customization. The game now has five modes, namely: Knockout, Rocket Ball, Super Rocket, Rocket Attack and Treasure Hunt. In these five modes, except for the Rocket Attack which is PVE, the remaining four modes are all PVP. Matching and ranking are both randomly selected by the system among the four PVP modes, and cannot be selected by oneself. If you want to play only one mode, then you can only choose to customize. Of course, if you want to experience customization, you need to have five friends to play this game with you.

Rocket Arena

Rocket Arena pros

The more interesting ones are treasure hunt and rocket ball. The treasure hunt requires players to grab gold coins, and the team with 250 coins is given priority to win. There are two ways to obtain coins, treasure rounds and coin rounds. The treasure round map will spawn a treasure chest at a fixed location, and the treasure chest contains 25 gold coins. The player who has obtained the treasure chest will get a coin every second, until all the gold coins in the treasure chest are obtained or the player with the treasure chest is blown out of the map. The coin round is simple and crude, and coins will be scattered all over the map. No matter what method you use, grabbing is over.

Rocket Arena

Rocket balls require players to throw or carry a rocket ball into the opponent's target area to score points. The team that scores 5 points first wins. This mode is similar to the "Dynamic Fighting Ball" of Overwatch. The difference is that "Rocket Ball" removes the restriction on character selection, which allows players to match as they wish and is no longer limited to one character. The character can always carry the ball after touching the ball. This setting also eliminates the need for excessive ball control skills. Controlling the ball at will also has a price, and the price is that the player needs to avoid the opponent's rocket. Speaking of dodge rockets, we must mention the unique dodge mechanism of the game.

Rocket Arena

In the game Rocket Arena, players can press the Q key to use dodge skills to dodge the opponent's rocket attack or interrupt control. The addition of dodge mechanism gives this FPS game a touch of ACT. Of course, dodge is not invincible. After each dodge, the player needs to wait six seconds before using the next dodge. That is, dodge has a cooldown of up to six seconds and needs to be used with caution. If the player is trapped in a blind spot by the opponent, you need to use it more carefully, unless you have a ninja headband.

Rocket Arena

The ninja headband is a prop in the game, which can greatly reduce the cooling time of evasion skills for a period of time after use. The game now has 5 kinds of props, namely: ninja headband, sensor mine, bomb, acceleration and rocket magnet. There is no regular FPS blood recovery item among these five items, but it greatly increases the randomness of the game. Grenades and induction mines can allow players to directly cause damage to opponents, and acceleration can allow players in danger to escape.

Rocket Arena

In addition to dodge and props, Rocket Arena also has an artifact system. The artifact system is similar to the runes in LOL. Players can obtain artifacts by upgrading their character levels, and equipped with artifacts can improve their attributes. These attributes can be roughly divided into three categories, increasing their mobility, increasing their own damage, and reducing the damage caused by opponents. Players can choose artifacts suitable for these roles according to the roles they are good at to enhance their combat effectiveness.

Rocket Arena cons

If there are advantages, there are disadvantages. Let me talk about the model first. The rocket attack is the worst and the most monotonous of these five modes. As a PVE mode, there is no background story, and the difficulty is not very high. These two points plus the existence of the training ground directly make this mode lose its meaning. When I first experienced the Rocket Soldier mode, due to the poor network of my teammates, a three-person game became a two-person game. The difficulty is not very high and every player has three lives. Even two players can easily pass the level. If you play a little bit, then death is possible.

The game is divided into two battlefields, ground and air, so most of the attacks in this game need to be pre-judged, which requires players to have a certain FPS basis. In addition, there is no teaching in the game mechanics, which causes most players to be completely confused when they play for the first time. These two points directly lead to the unfriendly experience of this game for novices. The game still has the problem that it cannot be reconnected. Since the accelerator is not used at the beginning of the game, the connection will be dropped after entering the game and cannot be reconnected. This once again weakens the player experience. 2V3 situations often happen. I don't know when there will be one less player on your own or enemy team.

Rocket Arena advocates a fast-paced game of 6 minutes. But because of the high price, the number of players is very small, and it is relatively difficult to match players. In the course of my game, there were even cases where I couldn't match people for 10 minutes.

Summary

In short, Rocket Arena is not particularly brilliant in terms of combat, painting style and sound effects, and has not reached the level of the same game. You need to pay extra for the skin inside the game after spending money. If there is a discount on Steam later, players who like FPS can still try it. After all, it is not fun and can be refunded, but based on the current number of players, it is really hard to say how many games can be played in two hours.
