Tizen, Samsung's operating system, is at the heart of the company's vision for smart homes. Samsung's range of smart products, including Smart TVs, monitors, and the Family Hub refrigerator, all rely on Tizen for support.

At the recent SDC23 Samsung Developer Conference, the company made an exciting announcement regarding the expansion of Tizen into more devices, including household appliances featuring 7-inch screens. Moreover, Samsung introduced an innovative AI solution that promises to make these devices even smarter.

Tizen is gradually making its way into a broader spectrum of devices, and this includes household appliances equipped with 7-inch screens, such as smart thermostats. However, these smaller devices often lack the computational power needed to support AI functions.

To address this limitation, Samsung has devised a solution known as Home AI Edge technology. According to Samsung's official description, smaller household appliances with lower computing capabilities can now leverage Home AI Edge to request AI services from devices with more robust computing resources, such as stronger CPUs and NPUs.

In essence, if a smaller device cannot independently perform all the necessary processes for an AI task, it can simply request assistance from another more powerful device within the home.

This innovation signifies a significant step forward in making AI-driven smart devices more accessible and versatile within the modern household. By integrating Tizen into a broader range of appliances and introducing Home AI Edge technology, Samsung is enhancing the intelligence and capabilities of smart homes, making daily life more convenient and efficient for users.

As Samsung continues to expand the reach of Tizen and invest in AI-driven solutions, we can expect to see even greater integration of smart technologies into our daily lives, ultimately transforming the way we interact with our appliances and our homes.
