How good is Sony OLED A8 series? As one of the most sucessful TV tech brands of all time, Sony has always been highly recommended by media and users. Sony KD-55A8 OLED TV was launched in early 2020, at a price of $1,900. However, many people are not aware of one fact: the Sony KD-55A8 combines a 2020 LG OLED panel. So how did Sony processing work with an LG panel? Here we could talk about it:

What's the difference between Sony KD-55A8 and A8?

Sony KD-55A8 OLED TV differs from the A8 only in the feet and the remote.

The back uses a convex design, which is almost the same as the back of the A8G. The port location is similar, The A8’s connections are fairly typical: four HDMIs, three USBs, an optical output, aerial and satellite ports and a standard headphone socket. From the side, the main body of the screen looks extremely slim, the metal frame is integrated with a strong sense of technology, and the square cover of the motherboard looks very tough.

Hardware

The peak brightness of the Sony KD-55A8 in the 2P window measured by the brightness meter reached 1000 nits. However, due to the ABL protection mechanism, the peak brightness was reduced to 800 after being kept bright for one minute. At the same time, large-area windows cannot be highlighted. Basically, all OLED TVs are like this. There should be no fuss. The screen level of Sony KD-55A8 is already quite good.

At the same time, the Sony KD-55A8 equipped with the same flagship X1 image quality processing chip as the A9 series, which has dynamic precision imaging (making the picture clearer) and HDR dynamic reshaping technology (making the picture HDR effect better) .

Picture

Dropping down to SDR with the standard Blu-ray of Unbroken, the Sony KD-55A8 puts in another superb performance that’s punchy, vibrant and dynamic while always maintaining a firm grip on reality. It’s worth noting that changes made to the Standard picture preset while watching HDR are carried over to Standard when watching SDR. In terms of colours, the Sony KD-55A8’s extra three-dimensionality and subtle motion processing makes for a winning overall performance.

Sound

As well as providing this directness and focus, the Sony also fills the room rather effectively when required, such as when the enemy fighters strafe the bomber for the first time.

The A8 certainly sounds better than most similarly priced rivals, but you’d be doing the TV a disservice not partnering it with a dedicated sound system, such as the Sonos Arc, which would provide a huge sonic upgrade.

The Sony 65A8’s 4K/HDR pictures take the beauty already witnessed with HD/SDR content to an even higher level.

The AG9 is the best in class in a number of respects. It looks and sounds better than its rivals, and has better motion. It's a fabulous performer with 1080p, SDR content, too. But if you're looking at spending this sort of money, you want the best TV for the best content.

a very clean and simple design with straight lines and sharp corners that are very similar to the A9G only here the squares are bigger in comparison.
