David F. Sandberg, a Swedish filmmaker, gained acclaim with his 2016 low-budget horror film "Lights Out," which achieved global box office success, grossing $148 million against a production cost of $4.9 million. In 2018, he directed the DC superhero film "Shazam."

"Until Dawn" originated as an interactive horror game developed by Supermassive Games and published by Sony in 2015. The game revolves around eight characters who find themselves trapped in a remote mountain vacation spot, experiencing an unexpected night of terror. Players take on the role of any of the eight characters, and the choices made during the gameplay significantly influence the unfolding story, ultimately determining the fate of all characters.

With "Until Dawn," Sony aims to capitalize on the success of the interactive horror game by bringing its suspenseful narrative and unpredictable twists to the big screen. The collaboration with David F. Sandberg, known for his skill in creating tension and thrills, suggests an exciting venture into the horror genre for both gaming and movie enthusiasts. As the trend of adapting video games into films continues, "Until Dawn" has the potential to offer audiences a unique cinematic experience rooted in the interactive storytelling that made the game a standout success.
