On October 11th, Sony officially introduced a new model of the PS5, which boasts a smaller size and reduced weight compared to the original version. Specifically, the new PS5 with a disc drive is more than 30% smaller in volume and lighter by 18% to 24% compared to its predecessor. Additionally, this new disc drive can be easily detached, offering added convenience. Users who opt for the digital edition can separately purchase a UHD Blu-ray drive.

In terms of appearance, the new PS5 closely resembles the previously leaked images. The console features a black accent line and a one-piece main unit cover divided into four separate panels. It comes with a redesigned base, which, however, needs to be purchased separately.

It's worth noting that this updated model maintains the same performance as the original, with the only change being an upgrade of the built-in solid-state drive (SSD) to a 1TB capacity.

Regarding release dates and prices, the new PS5 will hit the shelves in the United States in November, followed by staggered releases in other regions.
