Submitted on November 30th, the patent introduces a predictive assistance solution. This involves utilizing machine learning models to continuously monitor a player's gaming performance, determining when assistance may be needed. If the system anticipates that a player is about to face a challenge, it provides prompts by lighting up specific buttons on the controller.

The controller is designed to illuminate buttons, shoulder triggers, and the joystick under the buttons to display prompts. These prompts will also be spelled out on the controller's touchpad, which serves as a display screen.

It's crucial to note that Sony filing for this patent doesn't guarantee the release of a similar PS5 DualSense controller. Sony has filed around 1400 patents in 2022 alone, and the majority of them are not expected to be commercialized in the short term.

The concept of an intelligent controller giving real-time game prompts adds an interesting layer to the gaming experience, potentially assisting players at critical moments. However, whether this technology will make its way to the hands of gamers remains uncertain, as patents often serve as exploratory ideas rather than confirmed product plans. Sony continues to innovate, keeping the gaming community eagerly anticipating the future enhancements they may bring to the gaming experience.
