TCL TV adds The Explorers 8K channel

TCL TV recently announced the addition of The Explorers 8K channel. TCL North America Product Development Director stated that the cooperation between TCL and The Explorers began with the 8K Association. At present, the native 8K content of The Explorers 8K channel is mainly used on the Roku platform. TCL will develop solutions together with The Explorers 8K channel.

In 2021, the 8K Association will update the 8K performance specifications. The 8K Association certification technical specifications include 8K input parameters (color depth, frame rate, chroma sub-sampling), display performance (resolution, peak brightness, black level, color gamut, white point) ) And interface and media format (high dynamic range, codec), the following are the current specific parameter requirements:

Resolution: 7680 x 4320 pixels

Input frame rate: 24p, 30p and 60p frames per second

Display brightness: more than 600 nits peak brightness

Codec: HEVC

Interface: HDMI 2.1

As of the first half of 2021, there have been more than 70 TV sets certified by the association, of which Hisense, Samsung and TCL accounted for nearly 70%.
