What are the common projector audio input interfaces?

Regarding the audio interface for projection, different types of projector interfaces are different. The common audio interfaces are divided into the following types. You can refer to their respective uses.

1. AUX interface

Aux, which is an abbreviation of "Auxiliary". The AUX interface is an additional single-line signal line design, and is also the most common audio interface, generally divided into two specifications of 2.5mm and 3.5mm. In general audio equipment, in addition to the formal output and input terminals, it is often equipped with several input and output terminals marked "Aux" as a reserve connection. You can use this terminal when you have special applications, such as additional sound output or input.

This kind of spare terminal or line, regardless of input and output, we are collectively called Aux. Through the AUX interface, audio signals from computers, video recorders, etc. can be input.

2, RCA analog audio

RCA connector is often referred to as the lotus head,
the use of RCA cables to transmit analog signals is currently the most common audio connection. The name "RCA" is named after the company that invented this connector, namely the American Radio Company, English: Radio Corporation of America, this company introduced this connector to the market in the 1940s and used it to connect phonographs and speakers.

Since each RCA cable is responsible for transmitting one channel of audio signal, a pair of cables is needed for stereo signals. For multi-channel systems, the same number of cables should be used according to the actual number of channels. Stereo RCA audio connectors generally mark the right channel in red, and the left channel in blue or white. We can often see RCA connectors on some dual-channel dedicated sound cards. The picture above is a sound card product that uses RCA analog output. Like 3.5mm connectors, such connectors can also transmit digital signals, which I will introduce later.

3. XLR connector

XLR connector, also known as the XLR connector, is called the XLR connector (cannon plug or cannon connector) because Mr. James H. Cannon (founder of Cannon Electric, now the company has been merged Into ITT Corporation) is the original manufacturer of XLR heads.

The earliest product was the "Cannon X" series. Later, the product was improved and a latch was added (Latch in English: Latch, which is actually a locking device). The product series was renamed: "Cannon XL", and then around The metal contact of the connector is added with rubber compound. Finally, people put the first letter of these three words together, called "XLR Connector", that is, XLR connector.

It should be reminded here that the XLR connector can be 3-pin, or 2-pin, 4-pin, 5-pin, and 6-pin. Of course, we use the most common connector, as shown in the figure above, is a 3-pin XLR head, namely: XLR3.

Thanks to the locking device, the XLR connection is quite reliable. XLR connectors are also often seen on devices such as microphones and electric guitars.

4.the digital coaxial

coaxial audio connector (Coaxial), the standard is SPDIF (Sony / Philips Digital InterFace), which was jointly developed by Sony and Philips, and has Coaxial as the logo on the back panel of the audio-visual equipment (as shown below Shown), mainly to provide digital audio signal transmission. Its connectors are divided into RCA and BNC. The coaxial cable has two concentric conductors, and the conductor and the shield share the same axis.

The coaxial cable is a copper wire conductor isolated by an insulating material with an impedance of 75 ohms. On the outside of the inner insulating material is another layer of ring conductor and its insulator. Envelop. Its advantages are constant impedance, wide transmission frequency band, and high-quality coaxial cable bandwidth of up to several hundred megahertz. The standard connector of the coaxial digital transmission line uses a BNC head, and its impedance is 75C. It cooperates with the 75C coaxial cable to ensure constant impedance and ensure correct signal transmission.

High transmission bandwidth ensures the quality of audio. Although the standard connector of the coaxial digital cable is the BNC connector, most of the coaxial digital cables on the market use RCA connectors.

Summary
The audio interface is divided into two types: input and output. The former uses the projector's built-in speaker to emit sound, and the latter transmits the audio information from the HDMI input projector to the external speaker. Generally speaking, the audio interface usually uses a lotus interface or a 3.5mm interface.

The 3.5mm audio interface is currently the most common specification. Mobile phones, mp3s, sound cards, etc. basically use this specification. The standard RCA data cable, yellow is the video cable, and white and red are the left and right channel cables. RCA (audio ) And the RCA (video) cable introduced before are generally integrated, the same is the lotus interface, a coaxial cable on the left and right channels, to complete the audio transmission.

Nowadays, with the rapid development of projector technology, the projector interface is constantly changing, but now the commonly used projector interfaces are the above five categories of interfaces. In general, the above interfaces are all currently configured by mainstream projectors, and can basically meet the needs of users.

The above is the introduction about the audio input interface of the projector. You can also find other different interfaces to discuss together in the message area below.
