When we buy a TV, we will refer to a number of indicators to prevent us from choosing a TV set that is not suitable for us. Similarly, there are many parameters on TV that may never be encountered. Does each parameter have its unique function in terms of existence and value? Maybe after watching the following will refresh your three views, the following will give you to popularize what is TV contrast ratio, where is it reflected?

What does TV contrast ratio mean

Higher contrast(Left) VS Lower contrast(Right)

What is the definition of contrast ratio?

In simple terms, contrast ratio refers to the measurement of different brightness levels between the brightest white and the darkest black in the light and dark areas of an image. The larger the difference range, the higher the contrast ratio is, the smaller the difference range, the smaller the contrast value. Those of you who have watched ZOL TV evaluation must have some understanding of it. In contrast calculation, we will play a pure white image and a pure black image on the TV in the dark room, measure the brightness respectively, and finally calculate the static contrast with the white brightness/black brightness.

From a visual point of view, the higher the contrast ratio, the clearer the image, so the colors will be more vivid gorgeous. On the other hand, the smaller the contrast ratio, it will make people feel a gray picture, color loss will be very serious. In fact, the effect of contrast on the dynamic video display is far greater than that of static, because the light and shade conversion in the dynamic picture is very fast, the higher the contrast ratio is, the easier it is for people's eyes to distinguish the conversion process.

Of course, higher contrast ratio doen't mean better picture color effect. As long as the contrast ratio control in a relatively good range, can truly reflect the screen color, can meet the needs of most users
