What's "DMD"? The difference between 0.33 and 0.47 dmd chips

Many people will find that there is a parameter called "dmd chip" when purchasing a home projector . So what does this parameter mean? Today I will give you a brief explanation:
DLP technology (Digital Light Processing, digital light processing) is commonly used in home projectors currently on the market . The DMD chip is the basis of DLP. With it, the projector can complete the processing and display of images. Simply put, the larger the value of the DMD chip, the clearer the projected picture.

What's DMD? The difference between 0.33 and 0.47 dmd chips

The DLP chips currently used in home projectors are generally divided into 3 sizes:

  • 0.66 inches . The physical resolution is 2716 × 1528, the total pixels are about 4.15 million, and 0.66 inches is the latest DLP chip that supports 4K , commonly known as "big 4K". 0.65 inches is the chip size commonly used in projectors in the 1080P era and is used in mid- to high-end models.
  • 0.47 inches . The physical resolution is 1920 x 1080, so this is a real 1080P chip. Used for entry-level 4K projectors. There are also traditional chips that only support 1080P, which are widely used in micro-projection and entry-level laser projection.
  • 0.33 inches . The physical resolution is 1366 x 768, the choice of low- and mid-price projection products, also commonly known as "quasi-high definition".

Purchasing principles:

Through the above comparison, I believe that everyone can already understand: the size of the DLP chip is the most basic parameter to distinguish the grade of the projector. The expensive 0.33 inch sold is basically impossible to crush the cheap 0.47 inch machine sold. The price difference may be a brand premium, it may have some unique features, or it may simply be a manufacturer (or agent or distributor) in order to earn more profits. But as long as it is a big brand machine, it will basically not allow low-level chips to leapfrog high-level chips to succeed.
