The PlayStation 4 may be Sony's last-generation console, but there is still a lot of interest in it. Now a hacker has discovered a new vulnerability in the console that enables all PS4 consoles in firmware versions 9.0 and below to be cracked.
This PlayStation 4 jailbreak does not work on firmware 9.03, an exploit discovered by the cracking team by looking at the kernel differences between firmware 9.00 and firmware 9.03. The vulnerability, dubbed "pOOBs4", was discovered by SpecterDev, Chendochap and Znullptr, and requires a USB stick to access an HTML file, either locally hosted or hosted on a website, through a PS4 browser. Znullptr also mentioned that the kernel vulnerability even exists in some firmware versions of PlayStation 5, but no specific crack has been found yet, and the team does not recommend using the vulnerability to crack PS5 now.
