Are mini-LED TVs any good?​

Yes, mini-LED TVs are good for many aspects.

Mini LED backlight technology is applied to liquid crystal display, and the core pursuit is HDR effect: the display restoration demand of High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDR) technology.

The essence of HDR technology is to set different exposure conditions or display conditions for the high light and dark light parts of a picture.

Traditional LCD backlight system uses high performance, high brightness, large area LED beads, which can achieve less, more streamlined, more reliable backlight structure, with a better cost to meet the normal LCD TV display brightness needs. But this can not meet the "HDR" on more highlights, dark light part of the partition control needs.

For example, at present, Mini LED TVs generally have 500-2000 display areas with different exposures controlled by zones. As for the traditional LCD backlight source, on a 55-inch TV, only dozens of backlight lamp beads may be needed at the limit - dozens of lamp beads, obviously unable to cope with hundreds of partition control needs.

Why do we need Mini LED?​

The Mini LED backlight technology uses Mini LED crystals with smaller particles and limited brightness of a single lamp bead as the backlight source.

A 55-inch LCD TV backlight system may have thousands to tens of thousands of LED lamp beads. Furthermore, under the conditions sufficient to meet HDR, the precise control needs of a large number of backlight partitions.

That is, when LCD TVs evolve to HDR technology, they must use a backlight system with massive lamp beads. So we need Mini LED technology.
