China Laser Projector Market Analysis


According to the latest China Laser Projector Market Analysis Quarterly Report released by RUNTO, the laser projection (including laser TV) market in mainland China shipped 175,000 units in the third quarter of 2022, a slight increase of 2.7% year-on-year. The laser projection market has shown strong resilience in the face of continued poor socio-economic sentiment.

Cumulative shipments reached 462,000 units by the third quarter, up 13.7% year-over-year, with more of the increase coming from the 22%-plus gain in the first half of the year.

With the dual drive of technology and industrial chain synergy, laser display technology has formed a full application scenario coverage in multiple market segments such as home entertainment, lighting engineering, business meetings, education and training.

In the third quarter, the education market became the only subdivision with a year-on-year decline. Many projects were canceled or delayed, and shipments plummeted by 27%. The market share was squeezed, and its share in the broader market fell by 6 percentage points from the same period last year to 15%. . The household market share remained at 52%; the engineering field gained a market share of 1 percentage point more than the same period last year at a growth rate slightly higher than that of the overall market, reaching 21%.

It is worth noting that in the business market, shipments rose 69% year-on-year. Its share in the laser display market increased by 5 percentage points year-on-year to 12%.

With the advancement of digital display and holographic display technology, laser projection is used in more and more scenarios such as corporate publicity, office, and public entertainment space interactive display, which has become a new increase and new market for the laser display industry.

Hisense home laser projectors ranked first, and medium and long-focus laser projectors grew strongly​

In the third quarter, the home market accounted for 52% of the overall market. Shipments were 91,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%. Affected by the bottoming of LCD TV terminal prices and the continuous growth of smart projection, the market growth is slightly insufficient.

The lens technology in the household market began to differentiate, and two parallel product lines were formed through laser TV and laser medium telephoto, with a ratio of 6:4. Among them, the share of medium and telephoto cameras increased by nearly 26 percentage points year-on-year, and sales volume increased by 179% year-on-year.

Hisense ranks first in the household market with a market share of more than 32%. In terms of ultra-short-focus technology, Hisense is the only one with a market share of more than 50%.

Dangbei ranks second with a 20% share and has seized more than half of the market for mid-telephoto laser products.


Fengmi's full-tech product line layout has a market share of 17%, an increase of 2.5 percentage points year-on-year, ranking third in the overall market, and has steadily entered the TOP3 in both ultra-short and medium-telephoto.
