Headset Set X Pro for Xbox One at Snakebyte Test / Review

If there is one thing that is often essential when buying a console, it is the acquisition of headphones. In this area there are different products on a very wide price range. However, just because the price is high does not mean that the material is of excellent quality, and conversely, a product with a relatively low amount can prove to be of very good quality. Today, after having offered you the Charge Tower Pro from Snakebyte last week, it's their Xbox Set X Pro headset for Xbox One that we are going to test.

Inside the box, there is the helmet as well as a pair of additional earpads thus making it possible to alternate between headphones out of fabric or imitation leather. These are held on the helmet by magnets, which makes the change very simple. The headphones are also rotatable and can, therefore, fall flat around the neck if necessary. The earpieces have a dimension of 50 cm with shape registration.

No gene is to be retained on this side and the soundproofing is rather effective. Also provided, a small support to stick, for example on the side of a monitor with its adhesive, allows to put the headphones on when not in use. Nice and practical. The cord that connects the helmet to the controller is made of nylon, which makes it more pleasant to the touch than those usually made of plastic. Above we find a plastic appendix via which we adjust the volume, without however possible distinction between the game and the chat (for this it will be necessary to go through the console) as well as a mechanism which allows to cut the sound of the microphone. As for the latter, it is hidden in the earpiece on the left and it is enough to unfold it to activate it. On the other hand, it is a fixed and hard microphone which does not bend and therefore cannot be brought back towards the mouth.

The only downside comes from the protection of the head under the headband of the helmet. Indeed, the latter is rubber and ends up quickly making wearing a helmet a little painful, forcing us to change it from time to time from position. What is more, it is not the 250 g of the helmet that will help to support it in the same place during long gaming sessions. That said, for a helmet sold at 30 euros and guaranteed for 5 years, we have here a material of good bill. It remains only to see what gives the sound quality.

Xbox Set X Pro headset :Good sound, but vocal is unsatisfied

In this area, as usual for some time, to carry out our various tests we went through the audiocheck site. The results are pretty good for entry-level headphones. Indeed, the low frequencies as well as the treble are well adjusted. The former are between 20 Hz and 200 Hz, while the latter are audible from 15 kHz. We would have appreciated a perception a little further for the treble, but we still remain in a correct rendering, which allows not to be penalized when playing or watching a movie. We also have a clean sound quality, with a pure and clear scanning tone without hum or noise.

As for the calculation of the dBFS (decibel Full Scale - decibels below the full scale), which allows to realize the quality of insulation, it is audible up to 42 dBFS. Which gives the helmet good soundproofing. For the binaural test, it is very satisfactory and reproduces the original sound identically. Finally, the result of the wiring test shows that there are no problems on this side there, with good polarity.

As for the microphone, it's not the same story. Indeed, a permanent breath is audible by our friends and, what is more, it increases when we speak. Decreasing the volume will reduce it. Not that it is extremely annoying, but it remains a bit unpleasant. It's a shame considering the good sound rendering. The fact that we cannot bring it closer to the mouth is certainly not unrelated to it. To end this test on a good note, we end with spatialization which, when using the Dolby Atmos application (not supplied) ensures good rendering.
