Onida, officially known as MIRC Electronics, is an Indian TV brand, and its CRT TV was very popular in the 1990s and early 2000s. After being initially hit by the wave of plasma TVs, LCD and LED TVs, and after competition from international brands such as Samsung, Sony and LG, Onida has transformed into a smart TV brand and now has a good Android TV product portfolio. Through cooperation with Amazon India, Onida has now launched two new smart TVs, bringing Fire TV software experience to these TVs, and skipping the requirement to purchase an Amazon Fire TV Stick separately.
The new smart TVs launched by Onida and Amazon include 32-inch HD TVs and 43-inch Full HD TVs. Onida Smart TV runs Amazon Fire TV software and supports OTT video platforms such as Netflix, Prime Video, Hotstar, YouTube, Zee5, Sony LIV, Sun Nxt, etc. The remote control bundled with the TV has a built-in microphone that can be used to interact with Amazon's voice assistant Alexa. The remote control also has dedicated buttons for Netflix, Prime Video, Zee5 and Sony LIV. The screen supports a 1200:1 contrast ratio and claims a brightness of 300 nits.
In terms of audio, the Onida TV with Amazon Fire TV interface uses a two-speaker setup with a combined audio output of 16 watts. They also have DTS TruSurround and Dolby Digital Plus technology to enhance sound.
Each Onida TV is equipped with dual-band SISO Wi-Fi, three HDMI ports, an Ethernet and a USB port. In addition, they also support input through composite video and analog audio cables, TOSLINK aka optical audio, and output through a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Onida TV audio output function via Bluetooth 5.0. You can also pair and control your TV with Amazon Echo devices with the help of Alexa skills.
Starting from December 20th, the lineup of Onida smart TVs with Amazon Fire TV interface will be exclusively available in India through Amazon. The 32-inch model costs ₹12,999, while the 43-inch Full HD model costs ₹21,999.
