Global Projector Market Trends: 2024-2025 Outlook

According to the latest Global and China Projector Industry Development Trends Report by RUNTO, the global projector market shipped 20.167 million units in 2024, a 7.5% year-over-year increase. Commercial projectors accounted for 2.822 million units.

Under optimistic projections (excluding tariff impacts), global shipments could reach 22.08 million units in 2025, up 9.5% YoY, with commercial projectors hitting 2.918 million units (+3.4% YoY).

Commercial Projector Segmentation
RUNTO categorizes commercial projectors by:
- Scenario: Engineering, business, education, cinema
- Light source: Laser, mercury lamp, LED

At April’s Infocomm China 2024, brands like Hisense, SIM2, Christie, Sony, Wincomn, Barco, Lianhui, and HiteVision showcased laser projection solutions.

RUNTO notes that breakthroughs in resolution, brightness, and scenario-based solutions are driving the industry toward higher performance and broader applications.

1. 4K Goes Mainstream: From Specs to Experience
Ultra HD tech now prioritizes user experience over raw specs. In China’s engineering laser projector market, 4K models accounted for 11.6% of 2024 shipments (+3.8pp YoY).

- Hisense P65 Pro: Features a 0.47-inch DMD chip and full-chain native 4K, paired with an AI image chip for enhanced clarity/color. It’s the first projector with a built-in control system for education/cultural tourism.
- SIM2 HEP780: Delivers cinema-grade visuals for business/events.
- Wincomn C-4K Series: Full 4K hardware for planetariums/outdoor mapping.

In 2024, 6,000–7,000-lumen projectors dominated China’s engineering laser market (36.4% share), with Hisense leading at 14.4%.

2. Brightness Breakthroughs: Matching Scenarios
Brightness innovations now focus on real-world applications:

- SIM2 Crystal 6P Pro: Hybrid laser/phosphor tech hits 23,000 lumens, ideal for outdoor night scenes.
- Barco QDX Series: Hits 75,000 lumens with Encore3 processing for stages/VFX.

RUNTO’s research head Haiyan Zheng notes: “Brightness is no longer just about numbers—it’s scenario-defined.”

3. Ecosystem Integration: Beyond Hardware
By 2025, the focus shifts to end-to-end solutions:

- Sony Smart Meeting: AI cameras + laser projectors + anti-glare displays streamline conferences/live production.
- Christie’s Immersive Ecosystem: Combines 4K laser projectors, LED walls, and AI content for education.
- HiteVision’s Hybrid Projection: Merges interactive投影, holography, and LED for ads/simulation.

2025 China Engineering Laser Projector Forecast
RUNTO predicts 128K units (+11.3% YoY), outpacing global growth. Key trends:
- 4K adoption accelerates.
- 20,000+ lumen models expand in outdoor.
- AI integration becomes critical for immersive experiences.
