The history of Leak can be traced back to 1934, when Harold Joseph Leak founded the brand in London. After World War II, it gradually went to the world, and the classic model TL/12 became one of the BBC's monitoring equipment in 1951. In 1963, LEAK released the first all-transistor amplifier Stereo 30, which was a classic at the time. In 2020, the IAG Group, which had previously acquired LEAK, was determined to bring back LEAK, so there was this retro look and the Stereo 130 amplifier with advanced technology.

Leak Stereo 130 Design

Leak Stereo 130 has two kinds of finishes, including the retro style of wood shell, which is the standard model of the British Hi-Fi amplifier in the early years. Of course, there is also silver metal option that looks more modern. The interior has undergone a new design, including built-in DAC, amp, Bluetooth connection and stereo analog amplifier circuit.

Leak Stereo 130 Chip

The built-in DAC chip of Leak Stereo 130 is ESS Sabre32 Reference ES9018K2M. The processing accuracy of fiber/coaxial input can reach 44.1kHz~192kHz. USB connection is 44.1kHz~384kHz. It can also process DSD64, DSD128, DSD256 data.

Leak Stereo 130 Input/Output

There are 3 groups of analog input, including 1 group of Phone ports with built-in MM phono equalization circuit, and 1 group of analog output for external connection.

The panel adopts a symmetrical design. The left side is the source input, including fiber 1, fiber 2, coaxial, AUX1 (analog), AUX2 (analog) and Phono and Bluetooth input for wireless connection. The latter supports aptX and SBC decoding. On the right side of the panel is the volume knob, and in the middle, there are bass, treble and balance adjustment knobs and Direct. If you know something about the old Hi-Fi amplifier, this should be no stranger.

The front panel is located next to the power switch and there is a headphone jack. LEAK claims that they have designed a dedicated amplifier circuit whose sound quality is comparable to that of an independent amp. This makes Hi-Fi enthusiasts have a special expectation.

The Leak Stereo 130 has an output power of 45W×2 (8Ω)/65W×2 (4Ω) and will be released in the UK in July.
