LG has launched its 2020 range of sound bars, led by its new flagship SN11RG. All five new sound bars support Dolby Atmos and DTS: X.

The new lineup is led by SN11RG, which supports 7.1.4 channels, and includes the upward launch unit and rear speakers to provide a more immersive dolby panoramic sound and DTS: X audio experience.

This is a big change. In the past, LG's top sound bars does not have a rear speaker, but only provides a "rear speaker suite", which will continue to be used for other sound bars.

All five new sound bars support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, but with today's technology, you still need multiple speaker combinations to get the best results.

Five new high-end models (SN11RG SN10YG, SN9YG, SN8YG and SN7Y) combined with meridian sound technology, support Dolby panoramic sound (Dolby * Atmos), DTS: X and HiRes Audio (maximum 24 bit, 192 KHZ), provides a highly realistic Audio performance, LG SN11RG even independent rear surround speakers and sound speaker drivers upwards, to further enhance the experience.

LG's SN8YG, SN9YG, SN10YG, and SN11RG also feature HDMI eARC (enhanced ARC) features that allow you to transmit lossless audio such as dolby TrueHD from your TV's HDMI eARC port to the sound bars. LG 2019 and 2020 TVS support eARC, and the company has committed to MAT 2.0 (PCM with metadata) with future firmware updates to address the issue of dolby panoramic sound.

"The AI room calibration USES spatial awareness technology to measure the unique acoustic properties of the user's room," LG added.

Dolby Atmos sound bars are growing in popularity, and many TV makers, including LG, samsung and SONY, have introduced compatible sound bars in recent years. Content is also becoming more accessible, with streaming services such as Apple TV (iTunes) and Netflix offering panoramic sound content in addition to HD and UHD blu-ray discs.
