According to the Korea Economic Daily on September 9th, LG Electronics officially announced during CES 2025 that it will challenge its leading competitors in the AI robotics race by introducing its own humanoid robot. At the press conference during CES 2025, LG Electronics CEO Cho Joo-wan stated: "Robots are undoubtedly the key to humanity's future. LG Electronics is developing humanoid robots for households, standing at the forefront of robotics research, and committed to creating a more convenient and intelligent life for humanity."
It is understood that LG Electronics has previously launched service robots such as the LG CLOi ServeBot and GuideBot. However, these robots primarily rely on wheeled designs, offering strong mobility but limited flexibility. The newly introduced humanoid robot will significantly enhance both the robot's flexibility and its ability to collaborate with humans. LG Electronics is prepared to compete with domestic rivals like Hyundai Motor Group and Samsung Electronics, both of which have already invested heavily in humanoid robot development. Humanoid robots, designed to mimic human form and work alongside humans to improve productivity, represent a crucial direction for future robotics development.
Reportedly, LG Electronics plans to launch the intelligent agent Q9 later this year as the foundational model for its humanoid robots. The Q9 is expected to undergo testing in February and March to validate its various functions and performance.
